Managed IT services

Your IT department, on a flat monthly fee.

Tinker Tech takes responsibility for your entire technology environment — servers, laptops, network, cloud, and the people using them — for one predictable per-user price. Unlimited support tickets. No hourly meters running.

The model

What "managed" actually means here

Break-fix IT has a broken incentive: the less reliable your systems, the more the IT person earns. Managed IT flips that. We charge the same every month, so it's in our interest to prevent problems, not bill for them. Every device you let us manage gets monitoring agents, scheduled maintenance, and security tooling — and your staff gets a helpdesk that already knows their names.

Before anything is signed, we run a full assessment and document what you actually have. If something is a time bomb — a single aging server holding everything, no tested backups, a firewall past end-of-life — you'll hear it plainly, with a plan to defuse it spread over months, not a scare pitch to replace everything on day one.

You get a named lead technician responsible for your account. They know your environment, your people, and your history — you're not re-explaining your setup to a random voice at a national call centre every time.

What's included

Everything a full IT department would do

Included in every managed plan, per covered user and device:

Unlimited helpdesk

Phone, email, and remote session support for every covered user during business hours. No per-ticket charges, no "that's out of scope" games — if it's about your IT, it's our problem.

24/7 monitoring & alerting

Servers, workstations, network gear, and backup jobs are watched around the clock. When a drive starts failing or a backup stops running, we open the ticket — not you.

Patch & update management

Windows and macOS updates, browsers, line-of-business apps, and network firmware deployed on a tested schedule — so updates stop being a Friday-afternoon gamble.

Managed endpoint protection

Behaviour-based anti-malware on every covered device, centrally monitored by us with alerts actioned same-day.

Backup management

Daily backups of servers and workstations; Microsoft 365 mail and files backed up under the Complete plan. Restore tests are run and recorded — a backup that's never been restored is a hope, not a plan.

Vendor management

One number to call for anything with a plug: your ISP, printer vendor, payroll software, security system. We speak to them so your staff doesn't have to.

Hardware lifecycle planning

We track every machine's age and warranty, then plan replacements on a schedule that spreads cost instead of dumping a six-figure refresh on you at once.

Quarterly strategy reviews

A standing meeting with your lead tech: ticket trends, upcoming risks, hardware budget for next year, and how IT should support where the business is going next.

One-time onboarding (full assessment, monitoring deployment, backup verify, patch sweep) is a flat $500 for offices up to 25 users — quoted before anything starts. Project work (office moves, migrations, major upgrades) is quoted separately in writing. Hardware is passed through without markup. Firewall, backup software, and Licences are billed at cost from vendors.

Managed plan questions

The details that matter

What if we already have internal IT staff?

We work alongside them, not over them. Your people keep the day-to-day relationship; we add after-hours coverage, monitoring and tooling they can lean on, and senior expertise for big projects. Plenty of clients started as co-managed and later handed us the keys — either direction works.

Do we have to replace all our hardware?

Almost never on day one. The assessment sorts your equipment into "fine", "aging but OK", and "planning replacement". We keep what's healthy, stabilize what's marginal, and build a multi-year replacement schedule that evens out cost. You'll never get a surprise "everything must go" quote from us.

How fast do you actually respond?

Targets are in the table above and we report against them monthly. If we ever miss them, you hear it from us first with why — that's what a service commitment means.

What does onboarding cost?

A flat one-time $500 for offices up to 25 users — that covers the full assessment, monitoring deployment, backup verification, and the catch-up patch sweep. Heavily neglected environments sometimes need extra stabilization work; if so, that's an honest fixed quote you see and approve before it starts. Managed plan pricing itself starts the month you sign.
